How We Help
The Champion Cares Foundation supports our charitable partners through ongoing financial support and volunteerism.
The Champion Companies Milo Grogan Boys & Girls Club
In June 2022, The Champion Cares Foundation celebrated the grand opening of an almost two-year-long effort to construct a new, state-of-the-art Boys & Girls Club at 1012 Cleveland Avenue, replacing the former Milo-Grogan building that was more than 60 years old. Alongside a lead gift of $2.5 million, The Champion Companies' involvement ranged from managing the project’s permitting to spearheading design, engineering and fundraising efforts. Conversations about the new Club began after a charity basketball game at the former Milo-Grogan building. Milo-Grogan Club alumnus and campaign co-chair, Jordan Miller, worked alongside Brian Yeager and Michelle Yeager-Thornton, to realize the vision for a new and durable space that would serve as a benchmark for youth-serving organizations across the country. Following the official groundbreaking in November of 2020, the Champion team remained involved and assisted construction with final installation and design tasks. The completed Club more than doubles the size of the previous building at 24,160-square-feet. The Boys & Girls Clubs expects to serve more than four thousand Ohio kids and teens over the coming years with this additional space.
Adopt a School Pilot Partnership
In November 2021, Children's Hunger Alliance in partnership with The Champion Cares Foundation launched the pilot Adopt a School Partnership Program. The program provides weekend and school break meal boxes with ready-to-eat food for all children in the “adopted” school. The boxes will help fill the gap for children who may not have enough to eat at home, ensuring no child goes hungry when school is out. Champion Cares adopted Moler Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio, and after a successful pilot year, renewed its partnership in 2022 for another school year. While Moler Elementary is the program’s pilot school, CHA plans to involve other Ohio schools as the program expands. The Children’s Hunger Alliance’s goal is to have at least one school adopted in each region of the state by 2023 by engaging additional funders.
The YWCA Family Center
The YWCA Family Center in Columbus, Ohio provides emergency shelter and services to families without homes, including a warm place to sleep and three healthy meals a day. The Champion Cares Foundation is proud to provide monthly dinner services to the residents at the center, as well as funding and volunteers for the Safe and Sound summer youth field trip program.
Pelotonia
The Champion Cares Foundation is proud to support Pelotonia's annual cycling event that raises millions of dollars for important cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James.
Habitat for Humanity MidOhio
Habitat for Humanity-MidOhio has spent more than a quarter century bringing the dream of homeownership to families in need, and The Champion Cares Foundation is proud to have sponsored four houses and counting with the organization.
Round Up Your Rent Program
The Champion Cares Foundation asks residents in The Champion Companies apartment communities to round up their rent $1 every month and Champion will match each $1 donation. You may not think that one resident’s $12/year can make a big difference, however, if you take into account the number of apartments Champion owns, plus Champion’s match, that $12 easily adds up to a huge impact for our neighbors in need. All funds are distributed quarterly through the Foundation to our partner charitable organizations.
